Adopting an animal: Costs

Below is an outline of basic costs and estimates associated with overseas adoption.

Please note that the total cost for adoptions varies immensely on the flight the animal will end up on, which  varies a lot depending on destination, date and whether the animal is flying with a flight volunteer or going by cargo.

We want to emphasize that we do not make money on adoptions; we are simply happy to get homeless animals to good forever homes – this just covers our costs.

The first payment should be made at the same time as the adoption agreement is signed and must include the extra costs for non-LAW animals if applicable (see below).

All costs are in THB (Thai Baht).  Please check currency conversion at www.xe.com

COSTS

First instalment:

For  EU countries 16,000 THB or approximately 420 Euros

For  USA/Canada 16,000 THB or US$ 460  .

FOR ANIMALS NOT AT LAW ALREADY the extra costs are:
  1. Sterilisation – 500
  2. Boarding/quarantine usually minimum 4 months to the EU; Cats 3000/month; Dogs 4000/month

(These costs will be added to the first payment)

Second instalment (Includes excess baggage fare):

The instalment will cover travelling and boarding while waiting for flight (from either Bangkok, Phuket or Krabi)
and the excess baggage fare for the animals.
Excess Baggage fare varies on the route, flight, airline and the species/size of the animal – please speak to us to discuss individual cases.

On average, the airline cost for a flight to the EU is between 300-600 Euros *
On average, the airline cost for a flight to Canada / the USA is between $200-500 USD*
– SPECIAL NOTE: For UK adoptions
, animals have to fly to mainland Europe, (usually Amsterdam, please ask for details), then onto the UK by ferry. On average, the airline cost for a flight to Amsterdam, accommodation in Amsterdam, then onward ferry transport to the UK is between £350-500 GBP*
